10 treatments to get rid of dark circles

Insufficient sleep, stress or long hours at the office are just some of the factors that cause dark circles and unsightly puffiness under the eyes. A healthy and a balanced diet is the key to prevent and treat dark circles.

Here’s what you should eat or avoid:

1. Drink plenty of water

Water helps eliminate toxins and reduces water retention. Try to drink less coffee as it represents an incentive for the water retention.

2. No Salt

Try to reduce salt intake. The body takes the necessary salt from foods such as cheese, sausage, yogurt. Avoid adding salt into your food for a week and you will notice the differences.

3. Cucumber juice

It is one of the most effective remedies in treating dark circles. Considered the best natural remedy for skin, cucumber reduces inflammation, closes the pores, cleans the skin, relaxes the eyes and reduces dark circles. Grate a quarter of cucumber and damp two cleansing discs in that juice. Put them over your eyes for at least 15 minutes and you’ll see that the eyes will relax and dark circles will gradually decrease.

4. Pistachios

It represents the most effective treatment against black bags under the eyes. Indian recipe says that you need to grind a few pistachios grains, add a spoonful of milk and apply the composition under the eyes and leave it on for 30 minutes.

5. Potato juice

The potato has healing and soothing properties, reduces dark circles and brightens darker skin areas. Dab the area around the eyes with a cotton pad that you’ve dipped in the juice made from 3 grated potatoes. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then clean your skin with water.

6. Chamomile and lavender tea

Boil two cups of water, add 4 tablespoons of chamomile flowers and 2 tablespoons of lavender. Let it cool. Soak in this tea several cleansing discs and put them over your bags under the eyes. Leave them on for 15-20 minutes and repeat this procedure every day.

7. Almond oil

Almond oil is also effective in relieving this condition. Put one drop under the eye and let it act all night. In the morning you’ll see the difference.

8. Mint and tomato juice

Another natural remedy consists in mixing crushed mint leaves with tomato juice. Spread this mixture daily on the dark circles for a month and you will not be disappointed.

9. Figs

Figs are rich in vitamin E and are used as antioxidant, anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Cut a fig in half and apply them over your eyes. Let them to act for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water. The skin will look less tired and more vivid.

10. Green tea

Green tea has beneficial effects throughout the body, is a powerful antioxidant, reduces cardiovascular disease and cancer risk. On the other hand, it is a great remedy for skin rejuvenation. Store it in the fridge and apply it as a compress on tired eyes, three times a week.
