Successful Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Shin Splits Without Medicines

Yesterday I was jogging around the neighborhood, and before that, I’ve done some stretches. The thing is that while I was running, I felt a sharp and unbearable pain in my lower leg. It was awful because I couldn’t walk, and I said to myself that this is sciatica or something, but I was wrong! I was suffering, better said I’m still suffering from shin splits, more precisely, a pain that appears in the front part of the lower leg.

After that, I went home, and my mother came and helped me to overcome this pain with some natural remedies, because it wasn’t necessary to see a doctor.

Hot and cold compresses

I applied a hot compress for 15 minutes, and then I’ve changed with a cold one. It also great if you use a hot or ice pack! I’ve soaked a towel in hot water and apply it, and then I’ve applied a cold damp towel (which I kept for 15 minutes in the freezer).

Repeat this procedure 4 hours a day for 3 days in a row.

Cherry juice

Unsweetened cherry juice will help you to reduce inflammation and hence if you drink 2-3 glasses per day!  At least that’s what mother says, and I’ve followed her advice.

Hot baths

Take a hot bath and add 1-2 teaspoons of essential lavender oil, and soak your body for 15 minutes. It will ease the pain for sure, because lavender properties will help you and your muscles to relax.

Massage

Use the same lavender oil to massage the area gently. As a personal tip, use a warm compress before starting any massage, and this way you’ll relieve the pain and inflammation. After the massage, rest in bed for 4 hours.

Ginger root

Grate a medium seized ginger root, place it in a piece of gauze, and then soak the gauze in a bowl with hot water for 1 minute. Now, apply the ginger compress over the affected area and let it act for 15 minutes.

Epsom salt

You will need a bucket with hot water in which you’ve added 1 cup of Epsom salt. Soak your leg in it until the water gets colder. Or you can add 2 cups of Epsom salt in the bathtub and take a bath.

Pickles

Drink half a cup of pickle juice before any intense exercise or activity, but you can also drink it while you’re in pain. This remedy should be use only once a day, and if you have any digestive problems, skin this remedy.

Turmeric

Mix 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder with water to form a thick paste and apply the paste on the painful area. Let it act for 15 minutes, and then wash it off with warm water.
